Matches at Conestoga Rod & Gun Club

Join us for thrilling matches, each offering a unique experience for marksmanship enthusiasts. Our matches take place at 7 p.m. on the designated Tuesdays, providing members and guests with an opportunity to showcase their skills and enjoy friendly competition. Discover the details of our featured matches below:

1st Tuesday: Defensive Match Center Fire Pistol

Centerfire Handgun, Any Sights

36 rounds per event usually shoot up to 3 events

6 rounds in 12 seconds done 2x

6 rounds in 10 seconds done 2x

6 rounds in 8 seconds done 2x

Match is conducted from 50-foot line

The RSO will instruct you when to make firearm ready, firearm on bench, flag out and magazine on table or cylinder loaded but opened on revolver. Stand behind the line behind the bench. When buzzer goes off step forward, load firearm and fire 6 rounds in allotted time. Take out magazine and prepare 6 more rounds and then step back behind line. When all shooters are behind the line the RSO will set timer and you will shoot again. This will be repeated a total of 6 times to complete the event. At end of event remove magazine or open cylinder, flag firearm, and step back behind line.  When everyone is behind line RSO will declare line clear and you will go down and score target and place another target if shooting next event.

Scoring: 1 point for each hit

Shooting stops when you hear timer run out!!!

2nd Tuesday: Gallery Match 22LR

22 Rimfire Rifle and/or Handgun, Any Sights

20 rounds per event usually shoot up to 5 events

4 rounds per animal x 5 animals for rifle target

5 rounds per animal x 4 animals for handgun target

You will have up to 10 minutes to complete the event

Match is conducted from 50-foot line

The RSO will instruct you when to make firearm ready and issue the command to load and commence firing.  You have up to 10 minutes to complete the event. When done remove magazine and flag firearm.  When range is safe RSO will instruct you to go down and score target and put up a new target for next event if you are shooting it.

Scoring: 1 point per hit inside the animal

Shooting stops when you hear timer run out!!!

3rd Tuesday: Military Match – Center Fire Pistol

  • Centerfire Handgun, Any Sights
  • 36 rounds per event, usually up to 3 events
  • 12 rounds in 50 seconds, fire 6 rounds, reload, and repeat
  • 12 rounds in 40 seconds, same drill
  • 12 rounds in 30 seconds, repeat the process
  • Match conducted from the 50-foot line
  • RSO guidance and scoring similar to the Defensive Match

4th Tuesday: Action Match – Pistol 22LR

  • 22LR Pistols
  • Dynamic course of fire designed to test speed and accuracy
  • Enjoy the fast-paced action and friendly competition

5th Tuesday (if applicable): Plate Shoot – 22LR Pistol

  • Special event featuring plate shooting with .22LR Pistols
  • Test your accuracy in a fun and engaging format 12 rounds in 50 seconds, fire 6 rounds, reload, and repeat

Match Etiquette:

  • All matches start promptly at 7 p.m.
  • Follow RSO instructions for firearm readiness.
  • Maintain a safe environment; follow range rules.
